Frequently Asked Questions

What is

A streaming subscription-based service for digital World Language. Your Flangoo account gives you and your students access to a library featuring three different levels of varying titles designed for middle school and high school World Language classes—all included in your subscription cost!

Why did we start Flangoo?

We created Flangoo in quick response to COVID-19 school closures. With a Flangoo subscription, a teacher can continue using readers in their remote learning/teaching classrooms.

How much does a subscription cost?

Flangoo offers monthly, yearly, and multi-year subscriptions. To see pricing click here.

How do I try it out?

Click here to start your free week of Flangoo. If you like it, you can upgrade your free membership to a 1-month or 1-year membership from your account dashboard.

Will it auto-renew every month or every year?

No. We will send you an email three days before the end of your subscription period reminding you that it is about to expire.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes, you can cancel at any time. Since Flangoo doesn't automatically renew, you can also just let your subscription expire. Note: We can’t provide refunds for unused days or months. We hope you’ll take advantage of our free one-week trial to see if Flangoo is a good fit for you and your students before purchasing. If you have questions prior to canceling, email [email protected].

How do I pay?

Currently, you can go to and purchase using PayPal. If you would like to pay using a credit card or school purchase order, you can do that by going to and searching for Flangoo. You will have the option to purchase either membership. If purchasing through, please note that there may be a delay of up to 48 hours in receiving your login credentials. If you have questions prior to purchasing, email [email protected].

What is included in my membership?

Both the monthly and yearly subscription options include access to Pre-Level 1, Level 1 readers, Level 2 readers, and Level 3 and up readers for a teacher and up to 180 students. Some readers include enhanced features such as complete chapter audio and video dialogues in Spanish, French, or German. Some readers include optional comprehension questions.

How many students can access the Flangoo library?

You can add up to 180 students. Why 180? We polled World Language teachers and determined that the average teacher has approximately five class periods of approximately 30 kids per period. If you need more, email [email protected] The beauty of Flangoo is that it has several levels of readers, so if you are teaching Levels 1, 2, and 3, they can all have access to the same subscription.

How do I give students access?

Once a teacher logs in, there is a menu in the top right-hand corner. From there, the teacher can add students one at a time and manually send each student their login code and password OR use the student link to have students generate their own login and password. You can either email all of your students in a group with the link or post the link on your Learning Management System for them to access.

Are students required to give any personal information?

We only request a name and class period for teacher purposes. Because you will see students’ access, they will email you if they lose their login code or they need you to reset their password because they forgot it.

How do you give students their login code and password if Flangoo doesn't require their email address?

You email them a link and they set themselves up. You won't even see their password. If they forget, you can just reset it. You will be able to manage all of that from the Manage Students page. We recommend that you highly stress that when they sign up, they store their login code and their created password in a secure location, so you don't have to retrieve it for them too frequently.

Will Flangoo work on any device?

Yes. Flangoo is designed to work on laptops, desktops, iPads, iPhones, Android phones, and Android tablets. Whatever devices you and your students have, they will work with Flangoo. If you happen to find a device that isn't compatible, email us at [email protected] and we'll work to find a solution.

Are you going to add more titles?

Yes! We are currently working on even more readers to add to the Flangoo library. We are also working on improving and adding new features to the existing titles to make Flangoo even better for you and your students. If you have any ideas or suggestions for new titles, please email us at [email protected].

Are there answer keys to the comprehension questions

Yes. When you (the teacher) logs in, with a paid subscription, the answer keys are located in the menu under your name/account . Select the level of the reader, then choose the reader to access the answers. Only paid accounts have access to the answers, which prevents students from creating a free teacher account to access the answers. Students do not have access to the answers from their accounts.

How can I give feedback on Flangoo?

We would love to hear from you! Just email us at [email protected].

How do I get help?

We are always here for you! Call 1-800-TEACHER or email [email protected], and one of our customer service representatives will be there to help.

Can I group students by class?

Yes. On the Manage Students page, there is an option to view one class at a time. To group students into classes, make sure they have the same class period.

Will it track student progress?

Yes. You can view a student's information to see which books they have read, which chapter they are on, and the amount of time they have spent reading for each title.

Are there any additional security measures?

Flangoo uses Google Cloud hosting. Google Cloud’s industry-leading security, third-party audits and certifications, documentation, and legal commitments help support compliance. All database information is encrypted in transit and at rest. We also utilize a web security service which includes:

- 24/7 Breach Monitoring
- In-app Firewall (Smart proactive protection against intrusions and new emerging threats powered by AI and herd immunity)
- Antivirus (Server-side scanner that neutralizes malware in one click and notifies about new, modified and deleted files)
- Components Guard (Discovery of outdated third-party components with known and potential vulnerabilities)
- External monitoring (Continuous external monitoring for downtime, web reputation, SSL, domain expiry and many more)

Does Flangoo have a breach plan?

Once a data breach or exposure has been confirmed, we will determine how the breach or exposure occurred, the types of data involved, confirm any protective measures around the involved data (such as encryption), and the number of users impacted. We will then communicate with affected parties about the breach or exposure, and work with the appropriate parties to remediate the root cause of the breach or exposure.

What steps have been taken to prevent students from cheating?

1: No Copy/Paste, No Selectable Text
You can not select or highlight text in any of the books. We have turned off the ability to right-click, too. Google Translate needs these in order to do its thing, so you can't just use an extension or a plugin, or copy/paste text into Google. We have also included an HTML tag on all reader pages to prevent the Chrome browser from trying to translate the page.

2: No Print Feature
For copyright reasons, we needed to turn off the ability to print any of the books in Flangoo. This also means your students can't "print to PDF" to try and get around the copy/paste and highlight issue.

3: Time Tracking
The system is tracking your students "ACTIVE TIME" in Flangoo. This means they need to be scrolling, reading, listening, etc. If they go to a new tab, a different program, or leave it sit idle, it will stop recording their time. You can use your judgement when reviewing their time spent in Flangoo to determine if they were "really reading the book" or not.

4: No Answer Keys on Free Accounts
We offer free trials to Flangoo through our website, and it's pretty easy to sign up for an account. All you need is a valid email address. HOWEVER, these free accounts do NOT give access to any of the answer keys. In order to gain access to the answer keys, you must have a paid account which is purchased through Teacher's Discovery.

5: Only YOU Have Access to Your Students
If a student calls us asking for any help with their accounts, there's really not much we can do beyond just pointing them to the website and where the sign-in button is. You are the only one with access to your student's accounts, including the ability to reset passwords. We also can not give out your password by phone. We can reset it, and it will send an email to your registered account that your password was reset, but this information is not shared by phone.

Can student information be deleted upon request?

Yes, teachers can delete a student from their account at any time. Parents can also contact us and request for their child's information to be deleted.
