What steps have been taken to prevent students from cheating?
1: No Copy/Paste, No Selectable Text
You can not select or highlight text in any of the books. We have turned off the ability to right-click, too. Google Translate needs these in order to do its thing, so you can't just use an extension or a plugin, or copy/paste text into Google. We have also included an HTML tag on all reader pages to prevent the Chrome browser from trying to translate the page.
2: No Print Feature
For copyright reasons, we needed to turn off the ability to print any of the books in Flangoo. This also means your students can't "print to PDF" to try and get around the copy/paste and highlight issue.
3: Time Tracking
The system is tracking your students "ACTIVE TIME" in Flangoo. This means they need to be scrolling, reading, listening, etc. If they go to a new tab, a different program, or leave it sit idle, it will stop recording their time. You can use your judgement when reviewing their time spent in Flangoo to determine if they were "really reading the book" or not.
4: No Answer Keys on Free Accounts
We offer free trials to Flangoo through our website, and it's pretty easy to sign up for an account. All you need is a valid email address. HOWEVER, these free accounts do NOT give access to any of the answer keys. In order to gain access to the answer keys, you must have a paid account which is purchased through Teacher's Discovery.
5: Only YOU Have Access to Your Students
If a student calls us asking for any help with their accounts, there's really not much we can do beyond just pointing them to the website and where the sign-in button is. You are the only one with access to your student's accounts, including the ability to reset passwords. We also can not give out your password by phone. We can reset it, and it will send an email to your registered account that your password was reset, but this information is not shared by phone.
